Statistics
The proof of concept phase for GoodMerge is now over, so I've reduced the table to what really matters: 7-zip's smallest storage and the RAM required to reach it.
The table shows the current statistics for all supported systems. Please note that GB64 and PSID will not be supported. GB64 is a specialized database that could not support merging in the first place, while PSID has far too many files whose names alone do not imply relation at all.
The figure given in the “7-zip” column was obtained using the amount of RAM in the “Used” column. This is the Max RAM setting, not the total system RAM. If the “Best?” column reads “Yes,” this is the best compression possible with GoodMerge. Adding more RAM will not improve anything.
Please note that certain sets (SNES, Gen, N64, INTV, SAMC) have pre-requisites for obtaining good compression. All files should be stripped of extraneous headers, deinterleaved, decompressed, and converted to binary format.
